The Hands of Aldulan is a fantasy novel, the first in a proposed trilogy, set in the world of Arioc as events begin to unfold that will change the face of the planet for all time.
The tale begins with a brief history of Arioc in which we are introduced to the wizard Aldulan, who wandered the world of Arioc during the many long years of its infancy. After many eons of peace, the birth of mortal-kind is witnessed, and the ever-loving Aldulan watched with glee as the mortal races grew into several diverse civilizations.
It was with a heavy heart, though, that Aldulan witnessed a shift in the priorities of mortal-kind as time went on. After countless years of peace and prosperity, where the mortal creatures of Arioc focused on art and learning, greed finally found its way into the mortals’ hearts. Greed bred envy. Envy bred war.
Eventually, a great war began. Aldulan watched as the mortal races that he had so loved and cherished butchered one another in all the corners of the world.
The weight of his sorrow prompted Aldulan to invent a fantastic device that would one day be called the Clock of Aldulan by the few who know of its existence. Imbued with the power to make mortal-kind forget that they had discovered greed, power, and wealth, the Clock also had the power to make the mortals forget that the great war they had been fighting for years had ever occurred.
The Clock thwarted the war, and the arts of war were forgotten.
Unfortunately, evil had not been staved off forever. After nearly 1,000 years of peace, war is reintroduced to Arioc and this time mortal-kind aren’t the only ones fighting it. Demons have found their way to the surface of Arioc – in part because of a dire oversight made by Aldulan himself during the creation of the Clock…
The Hands of Aldulan is as an adventure story that addresses the dangers inherent in hubris, the futility of war, the blindness of greed and anger, and the strength of love and friendship.
